Watch Hill Sail Over & Fire Island Camp Out - Aug 21st - 24th
An Invite to all Members of Wet Pants Sailing Association,

On August 21-24, we will once again have the WPSA group campsite at Watch Hill, on Fire Island. There are many ways you and your family can participate this year at Watch Hill!

1) Sail & stay over with us:  Sail over on your own big boat that you can sleep on and spend the weekend boat camping.  You are responsible for the reservation and paying the dock fees at the marina.
2)  Sail & spend a day with us:  Sail over on any boat that can be docked and spend the day with us at the Ocean. You are responsible for paying the dock fees for the day.  Unfortunately, there is no place that I know of to anchor and wade in at Watch Hill.
3) Spend a day with us:  Come over for the day on the Watch Hill Ferry and see us at the beach and pack a picnic!
4.)  Sail and campout with us:  If you are willing to brave the elements, come join my family and tent camp for the weekend.  Each family would need to bring their own gear, food etc. If you are planning to stay in one of the most beautiful locations in the world for the weekend, you need to reserve  well in advance as space will be limited do to the Coronavirus - to register see www.wetpantssailing.org/events and double click August 21st to enter.

If you are planning to stay, it is a wonderful and a ton of work - but sleeping with the sound of the ocean is priceless. Last year, my kids did a Park Ranger tour on Friday night and a Park Ranger Scavenger hunt to become a Junior Ranger on Saturday. I do not know if they will do that this year but we can only hope. With full disclosure, they do not spray for mosquitoes at all since it is a Federal Park, bring lots of bug spray and pray for a light breeze all weekend.

As with every thing, we will need to follow the appropriate COVID-19 procedures in place at the time, on the ferry, dock, etc. Since COVID-19 is around, we will not supply any food, however we can provide you with a hot grill for dinner and you bring your own food to cook.

Please let me know if you have any questions.  Many years ago we had a large group and had a blast. Last year we started it back up and had fun. I hope to see many people, even if its just for the day, come together (socially far apart) and fellowship at the beach.

Register online at www.wetpantssailing.org/events on the event calendar for August 21st.  Please contact me with any questions!
